Sight 2020 in the times of Covid-19

Sight 2020 in the times of Covid-19

Like most organisations and individuals we have found our activities restricted by the coronavirus pandemic. We sadly have had to cancel our June trip to Malawi and are unsure whether our next scheduled visit in November 2020 will be able to go ahead. We are still working hard behind the scenes and are currently trying to organise a shipment of ophthalmic equipment to Malawi. We have some large pieces of kit, including machines needed for doing cataract operations, and are aiming to get everything in place so that we can hit the ground…continue reading →

Nov 2019 Project Report

Nov 2019 Project Report

Volunteers Fiona Collins and Jackie Sanders share their experiences of working with the charity on our visit to Malawi in November 2019. What a week we had in Malawi. For those of us complete novices at Malawian life, it was a bit of a learning curve – particularly the way that they take the concept of ‘manyana’ to whole new level!! Andrew’s mantra of “relax and go with it” proved to be well-founded! It was an experience that I will absolutely treasure, and one if at all possible, I would love to repeat.  …continue reading →

We are pleased to announce that the barrier wall at St Monfort College has now been officially opened! Canon Roy opened by saying what a great joy and privilege it was to be able to work with the charity in Malawi and thanked the school…continue reading →

Brecon to Cardiff charity bike ride

Brecon to Cardiff charity bike ride

The charity bike ride took slightly longer than expected - after setting off on the 7th September Andrew and Phil successfully completed the route just over a week later! The intial attempt had to be abandoned after Andrew sustained a puncture just minutes into the ride. Undeterred, a week later and with new tyres, they set off again and sped back to Cardiff, raising over £200 in the process. After an enjoyable day in beautiful scenery both are keen to repeat the feat next year - if anyone would like to join them…continue reading →
