Our Story

Sight 2020 Direct is a UK based charity that was set up in 2001 with the aim of providing good eye care services for people who would not otherwise have access to them. Since 2008 we have been working in Malawi, where we have performed hundreds of catract operations, trained local health care professionals and helped to set up the infrastructure required for long term projects.

We have two main aims:

1) To work with local partners to prevent treatable forms of blindness. We help to provide services such as cataract surgery and glaucoma management for people in Malawi who cannot afford to pay for them.

2) To provide activities and education to people with irreversible sight loss, to improve their quality of life and promote social inclusion. We are involved in the setting up and running of activities such as blind football, goal ball, music, art and crafts.

We also operate in Malawi as an NGO called Onani Eye Foundation.
