Sight 2020 Direct: Trustee and Policy Development Officer

I was born on 3rd June 1955 with a congenital eye defect. I have known Andrew and his family for over 20 years and when I heard about Sight 2020 I was very keen to help, as I know how difficult life can be with a sight loss of any kind. I feel that raising funds for cataract surgery is especially important, as it is an operation that can make such a difference to not only that individual, but also their family who they may not have been able to support due to sight loss.

I enjoy fundraising in lots of different ways – I raised £500 by doing “odd jobs” such as dog walking, baby sitting and cleaning and a further £700 with my blind friend Christine through a sponsored swim! My next event will be an afternoon tea party once the coronavirus lockdown is over.
