According to the WHO, cataracts are responsible for 51% of blindness globally. Sight can be restored with an operation that takes just 20 minutes, but many people in Malawi do not have access to affordable healthcare.
We are working closely with Zomba Central Hospital to increase the number of cataract operations being performed in Malawi. We arrange for groups of UK-based medical staff to visit Zomba, not only to run clinics and perform operations, but also to train local staff in order to provide ongoing, sustainable eyecare services.
Restore a person's sight for just £40!
Our next visit to Malawi will be in November 2022 and we are hoping to raise £4000 to fund at least 100 cataract operations. The more money we raise, the more cataracts we will be able to remove! We are currently over half way towards our target and would like to thank all our supporters for their genorosity.
If you buy one or more cataract operations you will receive a thank you certificate, which explains more about the operation and the work you are supporting. Once the operation has been completed we will send you more details about the people whose surgery you have funded and what your money has achieved.
The ideal gift?
Why not buy a cataract operation as a gift? Our thank you certificates make a lovely present!
