Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy looks to provide support to people whose health makes it difficult to perform certain activities.
We organise annual occupational therapy projects in Malawi, which are run by Sally Feyi-Waboso, who has been working as an independent occupational therapist (OT) in the UK since 2012.
Sally has taken groups of second year OT students from Cardiff university to Zomba Central Hospital, where they have worked collaboratively with the local Physiotherapy team to provide care for stroke patients and those with cerebral palsy.
We have also run projects at St Montfort special needs education centre, Nguludi, where we have engaged with students using pottery, arts, crafts, goal ball and blind football. In November 2019, we painted and decorated a classroom at St Montfort and ran a project where the children took part in clay modelling.
We are currently working with Mulanje Mission Hospital, which is in the process of opening a new physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre.
